The Commission starts cooking revised measures for ovens, hobs and range hoods
The European Commission is currently working on the review of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for domestic ovens, hobs and range hoods. The JRC, in charge of the preparatory study, presented their preliminary findings at a stakeholder webmeeting in March.
As one of the stakeholders involved in this process, ECOS called for a wider scope to trigger further savings from other domestic products such as microwave ovens, portable hobs and recirculating hoods, and, more importantly, from professional/commercial appliances. We also believe it crucial to ensure ambitious energy and resource efficiency requirements and to finally introduce an energy label for hobs, which do not have one at present.
The JRC will be receiving comments until the end of April, and will then proceed with other key sections of the study that will ultimately guide the upcoming regulatory discussions.
