ECOS supports the creation of a new group to advise on environmental aspects in lighting standardisation
In October, ECOS successfully co-initiated the launch of an advisory group at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The group will focus on environmental aspects of standards related to lighting products and systems and will inform the work of the dedicated technical committee at the international level.
In the coming months, the group will survey and assess the existing environmental guidance on lighting products and identify existing gaps where further standardisation work would be useful.
Since nearly all existing standards related to lighting are adopted at the international level, this is an important step in ensuring that environmental considerations are duly taken into account in standardisation activities in this area, and that more environmentally-conscious design guidance is developed in the future. ECOS is a member of the group, represented by our expert Fred Bass.
The group is expected to deliver its recommendations by October 2020.
