Agrifood is a sector with some of the greatest impacts on climate, biodiversity, natural resources, and human health. The sector therefore poses one of the greatest opportunities for positive change. Our work on food supports the transition to an agroecological food system that farms with nature – not against it. Applying agroecological principles can help ensure we produce healthy food for everyone, protect and regenerate the land, support farmers, and connect producers with consumers. Our goal is simple – shape the rules of the food system so that sustainable choices are easier to support and identify and ultimately become the norm.
The revision of the EU Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action provides a critical opportunity to make it fit for purpose and support the required planning, reporting, and monitoring to drive climate action across all sectors, including agri-food. In our joint letter, as part of the EU Food Policy Coalition, we provide our recommendations for the European Commission's revision proposal.
