Work on algae kicks off at CEN

On 31 May, work in a new Technical Committee on algae and algae products was officially launched. CEN/TC 454 was created following an initial scoping phase undertaken by CEN on algae and algae-based products (M/547).

The work will revolve around algae for energy and non-energy applications. The future standards will provide definitions, classification, and requirements for algae processing. ECOS will be taking part in the following working groups:

  • WG 4: Specifications for food/feed sector applications
  • WG 5: Specifications for non-food/feed sector applications
  • WG 6: Product test methods
