Strong progress in Energy Performance of Buildings and Ecodesign standards

4275487336_009d97735e_mOnce again, ECOS shows its dedication to the energy efficiency cause, continuing our active participation in the standardisation processes to support the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB), Ecodesign, and Energy Labelling Directives (EL). Attending a total of 20 standardisation TC and WG meetings in this area since October (including buildings, heaters, motors, fridges, and lamps) is not an easy task for the only environmental voice in European standards. However, with the EPB and EL Directives under review, and the release of the redrafted Circular Economy Package by the European Commission, our product and buildings regulations remain as important as ever.

We have also developed two Technical Reviews and compatibility analysis between the draft regulation on commercial refrigeration and the relevant standards (refrigerated display cabinets, vending machines, beverage coolers, ice-cream freezers), while the submission of our comments on eight standards under the official public enquiry related to buildings and commercial refrigeration appliances, reminds stakeholders that ECOS has vast expertise in this field and that much can be done to protect the environmental interests in these standards.
