ECOS | Environmental Coalition on Standards

02 September 2020

Now online! Conference on Circularity in Construction on 29 September!

Health and safety of our participants is a priority for us. This is why we decided to move our event online, so that everyone can join from the comfort of their home or office. Would you like to join us on 29 September? Fill in the form below!

Our online event will explore how the construction sector can deliver the ambition of the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan, bringing together a wide range of industry and environmental stakeholders to discuss current challenges and identify policies, laws and standards that can transform the construction sector from an environmental problem to part of the solution.

What’s on the agenda?

Join us for a morning of construction talks! The event will kick off at 9:30 AM with a keynote speech by Marius Vaščega, Head of Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries.

We will then focus on two panels:

>> Building Blocks for a “Sustainable Built Environment”
Greater circularity for existing buildings and new constructions is key to achieving a more sustainable built environment, but are current strategic commitments enough to deliver a true transformation of the sector?
The panellists will discuss if the foreseen policy framework is ambitious enough and what sectoral changes will be key to ensure EU and global climate commitments under the Paris agreement are met.

>> A kiss of life for the CPR
We will discuss which direction the Construction Products Regulation review process should take to support greater circularity in the sector, and how the revision can boost a better recognition of the environmental impact of construction products. The panellists will explore regulatory requirements and standardisation needs, crucial in the context of the EU sustainable product policy framework.
