ECOS welcomes the European Commission’s vision for “A Clean Planet for all”

On 28 November, days before the beginning of COP24 climate negotiations in Katowice, the European Commission adopted a strategic long-term vision for a climate neutral economy by 2050 – also known as “A Clean Planet for all”.

The strategy shows how Europe can lead the way to climate neutrality by investing into realistic technological solutions, empowering citizens, and aligning action in key areas such as industrial policy, finance, or research – while ensuring social fairness for a just transition.

ECOS welcomes this strategy urging the European Union to keep up the ambition to commit to a full decarbonisation and circularisation of the economy. Standards play an important role for such technical transition to happen; ECOS works to ensure their contribution to the achievement of international and European climate commitments.
