Standardisation and policy 20 January 2019

ECOS starts the year with two more country visits with the ENgage project

In January, Programme Managers Ioana Popescu and Mathilde Crêpy visited the national standardisation bodies and environmental NGOs in Romania and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in the context the ENgage project.

The visits allowed us to gain a good understanding of the pressing environmental issues in each country, and also of how standardisation could support national environmental policies. These visits concluded a series of eight meetings, one per each country represented in the project.

ENgage is a three-year initiative aimed at increasing the participation of environmental stakeholders in standardisation, supported by the EU and EFTA. This project is a partnership between the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), and the National Standards Bodies of Romania, Bulgaria, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, and the Czech Republic. The project is coordinated by ECOS and the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation.

The project is now ready to enter the next phase, during which eight national workshops will be held to discuss country-specific environmental issues in standardisation. join the first two events this year: in Cyprus (April) and in the Czech Republic (September)!

ECOS is co-funded by the European Commission and EFTA
