Since the energy crisis sparked in early 2022, heating appliances in buildings have been on the spotlight, and so too the policies and standards that help reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and polluting biomass. Heat pumps, solar thermal, and renewable-based district heating are some of the tangible solutions to make the transition happen.

Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on:

  • The role of heat pumps in heating decarbonisation (components, configurations, applications).
  • The energy efficiency and pollutants emission calculation methodologies for space and water heating appliances, especially for biomass heating.
  • Knowledge of building insulation, ventilation and indoor air quality is considered a plus.

Experience with and understanding of EU product policy will be considered a strong asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental NGO values and have proven written and oral communication and negotiation skills. Fluency in English and willingness to travel are required.

The nominated experts will potentially:

  • Participate in technical meetings of CEN (and possibly ISO) meetings to promote ECOS position;
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings within the European Institutions policy cycle to promote ECOS position;
  • Prepare technical input through official comments and contributions to ECOS position papers;
  • Report to and liaise with the responsible ECOS Programme Manager;
  • Exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts when needed.

ECOS offers:

  • A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation and reporting, as well as other relevant tasks;
  • Reimbursement of travel costs;
  • Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.

Please send your CV and cover letter outlining your motivation and demonstrating your suitability to support and represent ECOS to Marco Grippa (marco.grippa@ecostandard.org) by 31/10/2024 COB. Applications will be assessed by the secretariat on a rolling basis, applying the ECOS procurement policy. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
