Today, the European Commission has published the second part of its Circular Economy Action Plan. The package includes much needed initiatives on packaging, the so-called bio-plastics, and carbon removals.
Last Thursday and Friday, the European Commission and Member State representatives agreed on new ecodesign requirements for phones and tablets. Right to Repair campaigners celebrate the move but regret a missed opportunity to introduce rules granting people a true right to repair.
On Thursday 17 November, national experts will meet in Brussels to rubberstamp new ecodesign rules for smartphones and tablets.

A timely phase-out of fossil fuel boilers would save 8% of EU gas imports, and avoid a long-term surge in energy bill prices, according to research by organisations supporting the call.

The European Union's environment ministers have approved today the final agreement ruling USB Type-C as the only charging port for small devices allowed in the European Union. By the end of 2024, it will apply to dozens of small devices such as smartphones, tablets, earbuds, and e-readers.
