ECOS and 47 organisations have signed an open letter to EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius, calling for urgent action in order to tackle the waste crisis. The signatories criticise the narrow scope of the latest revision of the Waste Framework Directive and identify key areas for further development. NGOs urge the Commission to adopt legally binding, European-level quantitative targets for municipal solid waste prevention.
