Following introductions by moderator Laura Degallaix, Director of ECOS, influential MEP Claude Turmes will kick off the discussion with an overview of what is expected from the review.

Commission officials with DG Energy (TBC) will set the scene, walking us through the procedure ahead as well as some of the challenges, learning points from recent studies and timelines.

IDEAS is a unique, informal platform of over 15 industry associations, green NGOs and think-tanks promoting IDEAS to innovate Europe’s energy systems.

This workshop will explore ways to capture the untapped, enormous, potential of demand side participation, by identifying the main benefits and barriers to implementation “on the spot” of demand side management, encouraging the development of an ambitious and coordinated EU policy on demand side management and preparing key recommendations for future political action.

A high profile speaker from the European Commission, in charge of the Energy Union Communication, will briefly outline the main legislative proposals which are part of the Energy Union’s action plan.
