ECOS makes recommendations for the Union work programme for standardisation 2016

ECOS has just issued recommendations for making the Union work programme for European standardisation deliver on major environmental policy objectives in 2016. Overall the actions by the European Commission reflect the Union’s objectives in the environmental area, however it is missing to address horizontal aspects of the European Standardisation System, in particular with regards transparency, inclusiveness and international cooperation. ECOS also calls for additional actions such as the development of a mandate to the European standardisation organisations to develop technical requirements for lower global warming potential alternatives to greenhouse gases HFCs to facilitate their use in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipments in support of Regulation (EC) No 517/2014 on F-Gas which entered into force on the 1st of January 2015.
