Digi-label: For a digital Energy Label
Digi-label is a Horizon 2020 project which incorporates digital communication tools in on-product energy labels to provide tailored information regarding energy consumption. By having easier access to information, over 1.5 million consumers can purchase more energy efficient products.
Kicked off in the beginning of May, Digi-label focuses on testing and launching digitalised solutions for seven iconic appliance categories. This will be done with partnering retailers and manufacturers from four of the top five EU economies – Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK. Among existing tools that will be scrutinised, QR codes are proven to be widely used by consumers, are easily accessible, patent free and do not require a high specification smartphone to use.
The project, running until March 2019, brings together 11 European partners with strong expertise in the energy labelling of products. In collaboration with all the partners, ECOS will be in charge of designing and organising the pilot-testing of a viable digital solution that will complement the EU energy label.
