ECOS | Environmental Coalition on Standards

A new digital Energy Label

Digi-Label, an EU-funded project which ECOS is part of, is designed to let retailers empower customers purchasing electronic goods, by enabling them to compare the performance of each product, and ultimately help them pick the most energy efficient  appliances on the market.

Consumers will be able to access information about a gadget’s true energy efficiency on their smartphones via an app which scans the products Quick Response (QR) code. Following the preliminary design of the tool, it will be piloted in the UK and Spain from November 2016 to January 2017, before being rolled out more extensively for one year from August 2017 in Germany, UK, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic. For more updates on this project, make sure to sign up to the newsletter here.
