ECOS | Environmental Coalition on Standards

26 April 2017

Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Sector Forum begins

The first meeting of the CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Sector Forum (SF-SSCC) was held on 24 March. This group will start the activities recommended by the SSCC Coordination Group which previously existed.

The SF-SSCC acts as a joint advisory and coordinating body for European standards related to Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities. While the SF-SSCC will not develop standards or other standardisation deliverables, they will analyse and recommend standards for development, implementation, adaption or revision.

In addition, the SF-SSCC identifies and liaises with relevant European and international activities to exchange knowledge. A core part of the SF-SSCC’s work is to put together an overview of suitable standards to encourage their use among municipalities and other relevant stakeholders.

ECOS will participate to ensure the wider uptake of meaningful sustainability standards at the European level.

More information on the SF-SSCC can be found here.
