Our webinar brought together experts from ECOS, the Right to Repair Europe coalition, the European Commission, and industry stakeholders to explore how horizontal ecodesign measures can help to drive down the cost of spare parts.

Making Repair Affordable: How to Tackle the Price of Spare Parts

Speakers included Mathieu Rama from ECOS, Cristina Ganapini from the Right to Repair Europe coalition, Wojtek Sitarz from the European Commission (DG ENVI), and Anne-Claire Tran from FNAC Darty. They focused on the challenges and solutions relating to the high cost of spare parts for electronics, including:

  • The significance of addressing the price of spare parts as a barrier to repair.
  • A proposal backed by ECOS, the Right to Repair Europe coalition, and industry actors to implement horizontal ecodesign requirements.
  • The current state of affairs of horizontal repairability requirements under the ESPR.
  • Next steps and opportunities for further action.
