Despite its potential, strategic and sustainable food procurement remains underutilised due to procedural complexities, legal uncertainties, and administrative burdens. In our joint letter to EU leaders, we call for a targeted simplification - while fully maintaining high health, social, labour, animal welfare, and environmental standards - to provide greater clarity, practical guidance, and legal certainty for contracting authorities and economic operators alike.
In our joint letter we wrote to EU Commissioners ahead of World Heart Day to discuss the importance of measures to reverse the dangerous trend of increasingly unhealthy diets within the EU Cardiovascular Health Plan. Addressing unhealthy diets is amongst the most impactful and cost-effective ways to reduce cardiovascular disease across the EU and widening health inequalities.
