Solar PV is widely considered as a key solution to Europe's fossil fuel dependence and related energy price volatility. For this to unfold sustainably, we need ecodesign and energy labelling requirements as well as EU Green Public Procurement (GPP) measure. The signatories are calling on the European Commission to treat GPP as high priority to support sustainable and future proof deployment of solar energy and thriving EU industry.
ECOS and 26 organisations demand the phase-out of fossil-fuel boilers and a widespread roll-out of heat pumps, solar-powered technologies, and district heating in a letter sent today to European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and executive vice-president Frans Timmermans.
