  • Joint statement – Repair in the proposed regulation on circular vehicle design

The repairability of vehicles is declining - and we want to change that. ECOS has signed a joint statement on repair in the proposed EU regulation on circularity requirements for vehicle design and on management of end-of-life vehicles. We call for stronger provisions for repair and reuse to strengthen consumers’ choice, local jobs and businesses, and European strategic autonomy, as well as ensure compliance with the waste hierarchy and reduce environmental strain.

  • EU Battery Regulation: How to ensure it closes the circularity loop

As Europe decarbonises, batteries (and the materials needed to manufacture them) are in high demand. Used for many different purposes – including electric vehicles (EVs) – batteries must be sustainable and safe while addressing growing environmental concerns that stem from widespread electrification. As well as reducing the carbon footprint of manufacturing, the right solutions will also account for the end of a battery’s life. This report evaluates the revised EU Battery Regulation. How will it help to close the circularity loop, and how can we ensure it is successfully implemented?

  • Joint Briefing – Beyond Recycling: Reckoning with Plastics in a Circular Economy

ECOS and CIEL have published a brief that explains policies and technical processes that require the continuation and expansion of plastics production - cannot be labeled circular, and should not be considered solutions to the global plastics crisis.
