We are hiring! Technical Manager – Construction

We are looking for a highly motivated Technical Manager to join our Buildings & Industry team.

Deadline: 14 May 2023

 

Your main tasks will be:  

  • In cooperation with team members, shape ECOS strategy on the Construction Products Regulation Acquis, which will de facto determine whether the implementation of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is successful or not 
  • Coordinate ECOS engagement in the European Commission expert group on the CPR Technical Acquis process, from the high-level board meetings to the technical working groups.  
  • Ensure our environmental views come across as part of the working groups relating to the life cycle assessment of construction products and specific materials, such as cement, steel, wood, and insulation for the first year, by producing impactful technical comments and papers and contributing to the meetings. 
  • Provide the technical backbone (data, reference, arguments) behind impactful communications of ECOS. 
  • Actively strengthen cooperation with ECOS networks, including relevant stakeholders, member organisations, or campaigns.   
  • Support funding applications development and reporting to funders. 

 

Skills and experiences required:

  • In-depth technical knowledge of the construction sector and a background in environmental sciences or construction engineering 
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience  
  • Strong experience in life cycle assessment of construction products, including key methodologies and implementation 
  • Good understanding of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), including the role of standards in the sector 
  • Ability to translate technical information into digestible information 
  • Commitment to the values, vision, and mission of environmental NGOs  
  • Strong communication, networking, and negotiation skills 
  • Fluent English, other languages an asset 

 

What we offer:

  • A one-year Belgian contract with the possibility to extend to an open-ended contract 
  • Work schedule of 50 up to 100%, according to profile 
  • According to the ECOS salary scale, a competitive salary package of €3,600– €4,600 (for 100%) is paid 13,92 times per year. Actual salary will be determined depending on the skills and relevant experience of the candidate
