Union Work Programme for Standardisation 2019 – publication delayed

The Annual Union Work Programme (AUWP) for standardisation 2019, issued by the European Commission every July, has yet to be published. It is meant to include proposals for key standardisation measures that will benefit the environment, including on plastics and the recycling of critical raw materials and batteries.

Publication has been delayed by President Juncker whose team is examining all pending European Commission proposals ahead of the end of the Commission’s mandate later this year. The delay in the 2019 version of the AUWP is adding to this of the ambitious Ecodesign Package (see below), and the Communication on EU Product Policy. ECOS urges President Juncker to speed up on these key environmental proposals.
