Meet our new member from Czech Republic!
We are excited to welcome a new member to the ECOS Network: Institut cirkulární ekonomiky (INCIEN) is the first Czech NGO working on circular economy through a holistic perspective.
Would you like to get to know them better? Read our short Q&A with Tadeáš Rulík, Project Manager and Research Analyst at INCIEN!
Could you briefly introduce yourself to the network? What is the mission of INCIEN and what are your main activities?
INCIEN (founded 2015) is the only organisation in the Czech Republic that is holistically dedicated to the circular economy. We were the first to introduce the topic of circularity to the Czech Republic, taking inspiration from the Netherlands and other countries. Our mission is to actively support the implementation of a circular economy through advocacy, research and community building.
We perceive the circular economy as a critical economic paradigm that mitigates climate change, biodiversity loss and resource scarcity while securing jobs and prosperity. The Czech Republic is one of the most industrialised Member States of the EU. Circular economy offers solutions for decarbonising its heavy industry while maintaining its competitiveness.
We support the decarbonisation of the Czech economy and help prepare Czech businesses for the green transformation. In our team we advocate for the acceleration of the circular economy policies through conducting in-depth studies, analysis and research in areas such as heavy industry, built environment, ecodesign or bioeconomy. We also create overview articles, thematic reviews, reports, infographics, videos, podcasts etc. to help effectively communicate priority areas in the circular economy, especially for companies, municipalities and government representatives.
What is your main interest in joining the ECOS network?
In our activities, we seek to learn as much as possible from others and to engage with international partners who inspire us and enable us to bring examples of good practice to the Czech Republic. We see membership in ECOS as a natural next step in building and strengthening strategic partnerships. We appreciate ECOS’s strong and active role in monitoring and analysing relevant policy files, and we greatly value the quality of cooperation—particularly in the areas of developing lead markets, green public procurement, and standards for low-emission products.
Here at ECOS, we are very much looking forward to cooperating with INCIEN!
