Meet our new Executive Committee members!
In June this year, ECOS members got together at the Annual General Assembly and elected three persons to our Executive Committee. Get to know the people providing strategic direction to the Secretariat!
With the ending of the terms of former ECOS Vice-President Marion Hasper (Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND)/German environmental NGOs coordination network for standardisation (KNU), Germany) as well as committee members Francisco Ferreira (ZERO, Portugal) and Robert Brett (independent member), three seats of the ECOS Executive Committee were open for election at our 2023 General Assembly.
We are happy to announce that the following persons have been (re-)elected unanimously by our members:
Robert Brett, independent capacity
Francisco Ferreira, ZERO (Portugal)
Anthi Pournara, Ecocity (Greece)
We asked each of them what they hope to bring to the Committee and gain from the experience.
“It has been a pleasure to see ECOS grow and to see its staff grow in confidence as their experience increases with an ever-expanding subject matter. I look forward to continuing supporting the relationships ECOS is developing with National Standards Bodies in Europe and beyond.”
– Robert Brett, independent member
“My vision for ECOS is one that foresees a long-term sustained growth of the intervention capacities of the organization, both politically and geographically, where standards will be key, but not the only area of action, to promote urgent and consistent environmental policies to overcome the several crisis, from climate to resources and biodiversity, that Europe and the world are facing.”
– Francisco Ferreira, ZERO
“Being part of ECOS is a great opportunity to contribute to its great progress, by helping ECOS continue growing globally and influencing national standardization bodies. My vision is to help other members raise their voice in key environmental issues at a national level, and make most of their membership by getting support and expertise from ECOS. This would provide ECOS with an increased influence at national level through mentoring and funding of its members and partners.”
– Anthi Pournara, Ecocity
