ECOS launches a new report at its conference: Applying Ecodesign Principles to Plastics in the Circular Economy
Our annual conference took place on 13 June and gathered over 100 participants. This year, we focused on designing plastic for circularity.
An excellent keynote speech from Kestutis Sadauskas, Director for the Green Economy at the European Commission’ DG Environment stressed the relevance of our new report, which was launched and discussed at the event. The subsequent panel debates focused on different issues raised in the report, entitled For Better Not Worse: Applying Ecodesign Principles to Plastics in the Circular Economy, and based on a background study commissioned by ECOS and carried out by VITO/Ökopol.
The report offers a comprehensive analysis of the existing policy tools and makes four policy recommendations to drive a more environmentally-sound design of plastic and products containing plastic in a circular economy. Read more and view the infographic.
