Call for experts – Furniture circularity

ECOS is looking for experts in the field of furniture circularity to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.

Deadline to apply: 14 September 2024.

ECOS is looking for experts with an in-depth knowledge of:

  • Circularity aspects – repairability, remanufacturing, refurbishment, reuse, durability and other related processes, as well as ecodesign requirements for furniture.
  • Furniture sector standards and policies at EU and/or national or international level
  • The presence and use of substances of concern, e.g. flame retardants and plastic products in furniture, and how to reduce/remove these aspects.

Interested candidates should demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge in the topic area and show a strong commitment to environmental values. They should have proven written and oral communication skills. Experience with and understanding of the policy context in the subject area will be considered a strong asset. Knowledge of the standardisation system, or willingness to learn, is a plus.

The nominated experts will:

  • Participate in technical meetings of CEN (and possibly ISO) to promote the ECOS position.
  • Prepare technical input through official comments and co-drafting ECOS position papers.
  • Report to, and liaise with, the responsible ECOS Programme Manager.
  • Exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts when needed.

ECOS offers

  • A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation, and reporting as well as other relevant tasks.
  • Reimbursement of travel costs.
  • Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.

Please send your CV and cover letter outlining your motivation and demonstrating your suitability to support and represent ECOS to Emily Best, emily.best@ecostandard.org by 14 September 2024 COB.

Applications will be assessed by the secretariat on a rolling basis, applying ECOS procurement policy.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
