Call for experts – WEEE (e-waste)
ECOS is looking for experts in the field of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.

ECOS is looking for experts in the field of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.
ECOS works to make electronics more easily repairable and longer lasting by design and by law, while ensuring the best environmental outcome of WEEE management, by engaging in international policy and standards development. This will help protecting people and the environment from the harmful impacts of WEEE. We are involved in various standardisation committees with relevance to WEEE in CENELEC (e.g. in CLC/TC 111X), as an Annex III organisation, as well as in IEC (e.g. in IEC/TC 111).
Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on one or more of the following areas: electrical and electronic equipment design, sustainable WEEE management, reuse and preparation for reuse, non-toxicity, recyclability, recycled content, technical and environmental requirements, environmental and health impacts including for resource extraction, related European and international policies, laws and standards.
Candidates should demonstrate strong commitment to environmental NGO values and have proven written and oral communication and negotiation skills. Fluency in English is required and willingness to travel may be required.
The nominated experts will:
- Participate in technical meetings of CEN (and possibly ISO) meetings to promote ECOS position.
- Prepare technical input through official comments and contribution to ECOS position papers.
- Report to and liaise with the responsible ECOS Programme Manager.
- Exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts when needed.
ECOS offers:
- A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation and reporting, as well as other relevant tasks.
- Reimbursement of travel costs.
- Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.
