Call for experts – Chemicals in construction products

ECOS is looking for experts in the field of chemicals in construction products to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.

ECOS is looking for expert(s) with an in-depth knowledge of:

  • Construction products standards and policies at EU, national, or international level (notably the EU Construction Products Regulation).
  • The presence and use of substances of concern in construction products, e.g. plasticisers, flame retardants, PFAS.
  • Circularity issues in certain product groups, such as flooring and insulation.
  • Key EU chemical policies.

Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge in the topic area. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental values. They should have proven written and oral communication skills. Experience with and understanding of the policy context (such as the Construction Products Regulation) in the subject area will be considered a strong asset. Knowledge of the standardisation system, or willingness to learn, is a plus.

The nominated experts will:

  • Provide input for technical meetings of CEN meetings to promote ECOS position.
  • Contribute to ECOS research position papers.
  • Report to and liaise with the responsible ECOS Programme Manager.
  • Exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts when needed.

ECOS offers

  • A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation and reporting, as well as other relevant tasks.
  • Reimbursement of travel costs.
  • Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.
