Construction products are among the major contributors to climate change and environmental pollution. Most of these negative impacts are embodied in materials, meaning they occur throughout a product’s entire lifecycle – from extraction of materials to end of life.

Over the past couple of years, the EU has made some progress in tackling the sector’s growing impacts, in the attempt to set it on track towards climate-neutrality. Yet, with significant leverage left to implementation, much still needs to be done, including:

  • Developing an ecodesign framework to push the worst performing materials off the market,
  • Bringing down competition barriers for truly green products,
  • Focusing on creating leading markets through green procurement.

Against the background of a new policy cycle, our conference will bring together representatives from across the construction value chain. Together, we will deep dive into what 2024 to 2030 could look like for building ambitious construction policies and industry standards.
