Calculate embodied carbon – let’s do it right
With the adoption of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, the European Union mandates operators in the construction industry to calculate embodied emissions from building lifecycles. While the Directive's predecessor only focused on operational emissions - or emissions from technical buildings systems such as lighting, heating, ventilation and cooling.
ECOS recommends the adoption of a delegated act that conveys in a transparent, comprehensive, and ambitious manner the lifecycle Global Warming Potential (GWP) of buildings. Our recommendations focus on methodology, stages, modules, and buildings parts to include in assessments, as well as the data fed into them.
