Green public procurement in construction
Deadline extended: 26 February 2025
We are seeking a (legal) expert to untangle questions related to the application and related impact of different procurement legislations at European (ESPR, CPR, Public Procurement Directives) and national level. The expert will support our work with impactful legal and evidence-based inputs, including best practices.
Chemicals in textiles
Deadline: 28 February 2025
When detecting substances of concerns in products, standards play an important role – ensuring that producers are using robust methods for compliable and replicable results. Many existing standards are not up-to-date, nor are they robust enough to fulfil traceability requirements or to measure impact on human and ecological health.
The chosen expert’s support will be crucial in understanding the gap in standards and identifying where the development of up-to-date, science-based standards can support regulatory updates.
Greenhouse gas accounting and/or Chain of Custody models
Deadline extended: 7 March 2025
We are seeking an expert in greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and/or Chain of Custody models. The expert(s) will represent ECOS in ISO standards 14064-1, 14064-2, and 14067 – ensuring current loopholes are closed to establish consistent accounting and reporting standards.
New EU packaging rules
We are seeking experts on two distinct focus areas within the EU’s new packaging rules.
The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will change previous EU rules on packaging, including packaging prevention, reusable packaging, and reuse systems. The regulation includes sustainability criteria for reusable packaging, obligations for reusable packaging, requirements for reuse systems, as well as obligations to use a minimum share of reusable packaging for certain business sectors. Relevant standards on reusable packaging and packaging design will be revised and further standardisation may also be required.
Packaging design
Deadline: 14 March 2025
Candidates should demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on design of single-use and reusable packaging, e.g. reusable transport packaging, reusable beverage bottles, reusable take away packaging. A focus should be on design for durability of reusable packaging. Candidates should have a good understanding of product durability test methods and standards.
Reusable packaging systems
Deadline: 14 March 2025
Candidates should demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on reusable packaging systems – including container pool management, return incentives, infrastructure and logistics, reconditioning, and washing. A focus should be on monitoring the environmental performance of reuse systems. Candidates should have a good understanding of at least one specific setting, e.g. reusable take away food and beverage packaging, reusable beverage bottles in retail, or transport packaging.
