The project

The everyday products we rely on must be energy efficient to bring Europe closer to its climate and energy goals. Standards and policy that reflect environmental and consumer interests can help to achieve this.

Two leading NGOs involved in standardisation, ECOS and ANEC, have joined forces for Europe’s clean energy transition in the reaLIFEstandards project! Co-funded by the EU’s LIFE Programme, the project will strengthen ECOS and ANEC work on standards, the foundation of ambitious environmental policies.

ECOS
Environmental Coalition
on Standards

ECOS, Environmental Coalition on Standards, is an international NGO with a network of members and experts advocating for environmentally friendly technical standards, policies and laws.
Our successes consistently impact standards and laws promoting the environment – whether that’s the clean transition to a circular economy or combating climate change. We also work towards a more inclusive, open, and transparent standardisation system, internationally and at the European and national levels, at the same time ensuring the appropriate use of standards in support of environmental legislation and policy.

ANEC is the European consumer voice in standardisation. We represent the European consumer interest in the creation of technical standards, especially those developed to support the implementation of European laws and public policies.
ANEC’s mission is to raise standards for European consumers through the work of our members, experts and Secretariat, in order to achieve optimal levels of consumer protection, welfare and sustainability.
