As part of its Action Plan on the Circular Economy, the European Commission asked the European standardisation organisation CEN to deliver a mapping exercise on standards and other initiatives which could be interesting for future EU standards on “sustainable” chemicals, from primary and secondary raw materials.
Through the AccESS project, ECOS and several of its national members have contributed to this mapping exercise, which interim results were presented at a stakeholder workshop held in Brussels on 24 May.
ECOS Senior Programme Manager Doreen Fedrigo-Fazio presented initial analysis on initiatives addressing primary and secondary raw materials, and relevant to product design and production. The contributions from stakeholders will be integrated into the final report being drafted through the summer, to which ECOS is contributing extensively. The exercise aims to be concluded by this autumn, with a final report being published by October.
