The British Standards Institute (BSI) welcomed us to their “Standards Matter” conference in Edinburgh. Participants from Europe and beyond gathered to look forward at how standards can support global growth, innovation in a digital world, and our future society.
ECOS Director Laura Degallaix shared the views of environmental NGOs to the panel discussion on how standards can contribute to a Circular Economy. She called for the first-ever standard on a circular economy, which was created by BSI, to serve as a starting point for organisations willing to incorporate circular economy principles in their business. Even if BS 8001 could have been more outcome-focused, ECOS hopes that an improved version could serve as a future European, or international, standard.
