We are happy to announce that the ENgage project, officially started on 19 April 2018 in Cyprus. The project aims at involving national standards bodies and environmental NGOs from different countries, and in particular environmental NGOs, in the environmental aspects of standardisation.
This three-year project, supported by the EU and EFTA, is a partnership between CEN and the National Standard Bodies of Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, and the Czech Republic. The Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation will be co-ordinating the project with the help from ECOS as co-leader.
During the next three years, environmental NGO representatives will be sought in all eight mentioned countries to participate in the work of the CEN Strategic Advisory Body on Environment (SABE). In each country, the project will also organise a stakeholders’ workshop where the work of SABE will be discussed by a wider stakeholder community. It will end with a European Workshop, seeking to learn the lessons from the project and aiming to make it sustainable in the long term.
The background of this project is the 2012 EU Regulation on European standardisation that intended to make the process more inclusive, encouraging representation and effective participation of all relevant stakeholders, topics very much in line with ECOS agenda.
Within ECOS, Laura Degallaix, Ioana Popescu and Mathilde Crêpy will be involved in the ENgage project.
