ECOS is pleased to have been invited to join the Advisory Board of EEPLIANT II. This EU-funded project is run by market surveillance authorities (MSAs) focusing on joint monitoring, verification and enforcement activities under the EU Energy Labelling and Ecodesign Directive and Regulation. Market surveillance actions are an integral part of the overall framework of product policy in the European Union. Without efforts to enforce the proper implementation of Ecodesign and Energy Labelling regulations, the European Union stands to lose hundreds of TWh per year in potential savings, which will only be exacerbated as a lack of enforcement continues.
Over the next two and a half years the MSAs will review and test the energy performance of a number of energy-using products: household refrigeration appliances; professional refrigeration products; and the energy consumption resulting from appliances on network standby. As part of the Advisory board, ECOS will provide the view point of the environmental community and also lead the evaluation of the compliance assessment methodology that will be developed under the project.
TEEPLIANT II is coordinated by PROSAFE and funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 framework. More details can be found here: http://www.eepliant.eu/
