The CEN-CENELEC SFEM is an advisory and coordinating body on political and strategic issues related to energy management, energy efficiency and renewable energy. With the contribution of ECOS, SFEM has produced a publication aiming to strategize energy efficiency improvements, bring together partners in standardization, develop recommendations for standards in this area and promoting consistency of on-going European strategies. ECOS welcomes the use of standardization to help meeting EU energy efficiency targets as it helps promote best practices, helps the introduction of new technologies and providing authorities and private organisations with the tools to implement – and sometimes even go beyond – existing legislation. The participation of societal stakeholders plays an important role in bringing legitimacy, expertise and the citizens’ perspective into these processes, and therefore, ECOS also welcomes the inclusion of this consideration in the Strategy.
