ECOS is thrilled to announce the launch of STAR-ProBio, a Horizon 2020 project focused on bioeconomy.
Kicked off in May 2017, this three-year project will promote a more efficient and harmonised policy regulation framework for the market-pull of bio-based products. This will be achieved through the development of a fit-for-purpose sustainability scheme, including standards, labels and certifications.
As the only NGO as part of the project, ECOS will provide expertise on the existing bio-based products related standards and suggest ways to extend their scope and impacts on the market.
The project’s ultimate goals are to cover gaps in the existing framework for sustainability assessment of bio-based products and improve consumer acceptance for these products notably by enabling comparison with non-bio-based ones.
You can follow the work of the project on the STAR-Pro-Bio website.
