Together with seven other NGOs, including our members Zero Waste Europe, Health Care Without Harm and the European Environmental Bureau, ECOS will be a project partner in an upcoming project funded by the Plastics Solutions Fund. The project focuses on finding solutions to address plastics pollution in a circular economy. The project objective is to achieve the crucial EU policy changes to radically reduce plastic use and plastic pollution in Europe and in turn inspire good practices around the world.
ECOS has already commented on the Commission’s roadmap strategy on plastics in a circular economy and looks forward to the publication of the Commission Strategy on plastics this fall. We will pay special attention to both how and to what extent standards can be used to support provisions to address plastics pollution and end-of-life. We hope to reach ambitious legislative requirements that can be supported by robust standards to address plastics pollution and, in particular, end-of-life.
