ECOS is pleased to announce that membership has been granted to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The European Standardisation Organisation is responsible for the elaboration of standards related to information communication technology, including mobile, radio, broadcast, and internet technologies.
Through its membership with ETSI, ECOS will have the opportunity to contribute to European standards, elaborating requirements for technology that has the potential towards making European energy and transportation systems more sustainable. In particular, ECOS will aim to bring an environmental and societal perspective to the development of European standards for Smart Appliances and Electric Vehicles developed by ETSI, with a view to:
- Foster energy efficiency and increase the cost-effective integration of renewables in the EU electricity mix, through improved functionality and interoperability of relevant devices;
- Reduce total cost of ownership for electric vehicles, with solutions that avoid unnecessary and expensive infrastructure;
- Ensure such standards reflect societal needs and further improve the sustainability of industry and other stakeholders.
ECOS believes that ETSI standards can play a role in hastening the establishment of innovative technologies and services and supporting EU sustainability and energy efficiency policy objectives.
