Adapting transport infrastructure to climate change – 18 January

Adapting transport infrastructure to climate change – 18 January

18 January 2016

AENOR, Madrid, Spain

The climate is changing, despite mitigation efforts. The EU is already facing unavoidable impacts. Effective adaptation actions can reduce overall damage costs, save lives and natural and human assets. An EU-wide framework will support adaptation measures that have to be designed and applied locally. European Standardisation Organisations (ESOs) are asked to identify standards relevant for adaptation to climate change. These focus on three priority sectors:

  • Transport infrastructure;
  • Energy infrastructure;
  • Buildings/construction.

The workshop is addressed to the standards makers and stakeholders in the sector Transport infrastructures. The workshop provides participants an update on the progress and goals, as well insights from the standardisation experts carrying out the adaptation measures in practice. The European Commission wants to ensure that the framework is suitable for the needs of the stakeholders. This workshop is a way to get your voice heard.

The workshop on Transport infrastructure will be hosted by AENOR, the Spanish standardization body, which is located in Génova 6, Madrid, Spain. The workshop will be held on 18 January 2016, from 09:00 until 16:00h.
